James Bond: Casino Royale

Saturday, November 18th, 2006

A group of us went to see the new bond flick last night. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. The beginning of the movie started out with a ton of action ,which was better than any previous movie, as Bond chased a terrorist through a construction site at full speed. Bond blows up the whole embassy, creating a small international incident that causes the usual tension with Judy Dench.

After the first hour of kick-ass action, Bond gets into a high-stakes poker match with the evil terrorist investor, all while falling for an accountant for the UK treasury who should have been a simple conquest. Sadly, this relationship is the focus of about a half hour of the movie before it ends anticlimatically at just over 2 hours.

Overall, good action when it was on screen…..too much emotion when it wasn’t action. I thought Bond handled Halle Berry a lot better.
