Minneapolis in fall
Thursday, October 5th, 2006After a scorching summer, it’s hard to believe that it’s 50 degrees out when I wake up every morning and that the leaves are in full bloom. I decided to take some pictures to share, since it’s just gorgeous out. I went out for a ride today because one of the two mountain biking parks I frequent, Terrace Oaks, is closing on October 15th. I need to get some riding in before it shuts down and I move away from Burnsville this winter.
Here’s what Minneapolis looks like from my home in Burnsville, 25 km south of downtown. We’re on the bluffs of the Minnesota river valley, where the Minnesota River winds its last few miles before it joins the Mississippi River in St. Paul.
Another view of Minneapolis, from an overpass. This is I-35. It goes all the way from Duluth, MN (lake superior) to Mexico.
Pretty light traffic day for rush hour
Here the entrance to the trail I ride. It’s a dual-mode trail, meaning both cross country skiing and mountain biking. About half of the trail is exclusively for mountain bikes.
There’s a big clearing about halfway through the trail where the view of the leaves was spectacular.
And of course, here’s my baby. She’s been ridden for over 400 miles this summer. Wow.

I am also enjoying the final days of my trail. Bittersweet. Thanks for sharing!
