Hello from Harrisburg, PA
Friday, August 11th, 2006We made it! It was a short 2-hour flight from Minneapolis to Harrisburg last night. After all the scary stuff on TV, we thought the airport would be a mess, but it wasn’t. We just weren’t allowed to carry any liquids on the plane. Big whoop…like I carry lotions or something.
It’s a good thing the flight was only 2 hours, as there was a yeti-smelling guy behind us that would melt the back of our seat every time he would raise his arms.
Renting our car was easy. We got a nice full-sized taurus so we’ll have room for my dad and brother when we pick them up in Cleveland. I’m not sure if a taurus is considered a nice car. Don’t forget that I drive a 93 new yorker and a 91 dodge dynasty ;).
Even though getting the car was easy, we got lost in Harrisburg for ~30 minutes. That’s the bad part about mapquest directions: if you don’t know the city well enough, they are pretty much useless. Bethany called the hotel front desk, and they were able to bring us in.
We’re heading down to Gettysburg today to see the civil war memorial, graveyard of over 30,000 Union and Confederate soldiers. I guess they have a 90-minute driving tour that we’re going to do. I’m excited after seeing all of those history channel programs. It’s only a 1-hour drive to Gettysburg from here.
I forgot how compact the east coast is. We’re <100 miles from New York, Baltimore, Philly, and D.C. Wow. If this doesn’t phase you, come to Minnesota sometime
Time to go eat our buffet and get on the road. Woot!
