Back on the bike
Saturday, June 3rd, 2006On Tuesday, I had a long day at work, had come come to prepare for biking, and realized that I had popped a spoke on my bike. F*CK! Brought my bike to Erik’s in Burnsville, thinking that I could have it done and be on the trail in an hour. Turns out they were backlogged for 4 days. ARGH.
I finally got the call this afternoon that my bike was done, so I hurried home after work to change into my aerodynamic, breathing clothes, filled up my camelback, and raced out the door to pick up my bike.
All the excitement in the world couldn’t change the fact that in 6 days of not riding and drinking too much diet coke, I’d killed my body’s endurance and dehydrated myself completely. Oh well. I got in an intermediate lap, which was 4.76 miles, according to my spedometer.
I’ve been drinking water like crazy tonight in anticipation for tomorrow’s 12-mile ride. I can’t wait.
