Case of the Tuesdays

Wednesday, October 5th, 2005

Mondays are never really that hard at work. After a weekend off, it’s nice to write code again. I sure hope that doesn’t qualify me as a workaholic. If it does, I totally married one too! :)

Tuesdays are usually pretty bad for motivation. I use tons of creative energy on Mondays and then become a drooling zombie on Tuesdays. That makes Tuesdays good days to fix bugs. So, I spent today fixing bugs.

BSQSitestats is still coming along well. Michiel, my friend and co-developer from http://dev.4theweb.nl, is joining me on the BSQSitestats project. He is an excellent coder. He claims to be a non-programmer, but his PHP code is as clean and to-the-point as any of the better PHP developers.

The current task for BSQSitestats is to tackle stats compression. I’m about 1/4 of the way through writing that part of the module. That will make hits take up 80 bytes per record instead of 1k for records past the first day. This is definitely a requirement for sites as busy as Michiel’s, which takes about 5000 hits a day.

It was good to see that ~60 people tried out BSQ_Sitestats. I’m hoping to see a lot more as the product matures.
