Future of BS Squared: Typo3?
Monday, August 8th, 2005It’s about time for the BS-Squared CMS to be retired and replaced by a major CMS player. Currently, the front runner is Typo3, which still allows you to integrate very closely with PHP while giving you easy content creation and management, WYSIWYG editing/browsing, and just less of a pain in the ass.
I’m getting pretty darn sick of adding HTML code to blogs/etc. It’s the 21st century, and content should be separate from web development. No…web development is NOT programming . Hopefully, Typo3 will give me what I need.
So far, I’ve been watching the tutorials and have started to read the oodles of documentation. Typo3 itself is written in PHP, but you don’t actually add PHP code to the parsed documents. You include the documents and then indirectly invoke callbacks from the temlates that you generate. Your callback gets placed within a div on the page, so it’s really easy to manipulate it. Just don’t use absolute positioning (duh). :explode:
Andy Z and Kara Z came over for dinner tonight. We actually know other couples who are married now!! Yippeee!! It’s so strange how people all of a sudden treat you differently once you get married. It’s true that my focus is different, but I’ve actually gone out and done more stuff with my friends now that I’m married.
I should go to bed. I need to be ready for another day of debugging/testing tomorrow. Ahhh!
