Someone on Linksys’s QA team should be fired
Wednesday, June 2nd, 2004This came across Slashdot this morning. Apparently, the most popular Linksys Wireless router defaults to having its remote administration interface ON, even though you set it to off. So, for the 99% of people who never change their default admin password, they could be running a new spam relay Firmware in no time. Luckily, it only affects certain versions of the firmware, and it can be solved by forwarding ports 80 and 443 to bogus hosts from the virtual server pages. I’d just like to say as a fellow QA person that these people should be lined up and SHOT. :pissedoff: I hope that some people get fired for releasing a product that allowed you to “root” it by default. Oh wait….Micro$oft is still in business. Nevermind.
Anyway, I thought I’d share that little tidbit with y’all.
I have a great weekend with Bethany and her parents up at her mansion. I got a few hours of work done on Solarquest as well. It’s really starting to turn into sometime useful. More later…I’m at work. :censored:
